Hello!
I am Andrew from Saint-Petersburg, Russia and my Opel Olympia Rekord 1956 (1.5L).
Opel has its own history, I will tell you short.
Upon completion of work at the FRG (BRD) consulate in 1958, the soviet citizen received permission to purchase and send this car to the USSR (Leningrad).
Look at this USSR paper - "Import Permit".
During driving the car in Leningrad, the engine exhausted its resource, and parts can not be purchased.
Then the engine from the Moskvich 408 car (1.4l 50hp) was installed and combined with the original Opel gearbox.
Also, the electrowire elements were redone for 12v.
And until the 2000s, the car was in one hands until the owner died.
A friend bought the car and used it.
For example, he starred Opel in film "Princess Tatarskaya" about Anna Akhmatova where one of the main role was played by the German actress Hanna Schygulla.

In 2016, he sold the car to a man that decided to do full restoration.
I think this was about him - Infos für Russland
Remove everything from car body, sandblusting and did a lot of welding works (fenders, floors, sills, doors), but not finished it.
New owner was disappointed and lost intereset of Opel.
I bought Opel in 2018 in the beginning of restoration.
This photo that I became Opel owners in 2018 =)
The car body was made and all painted on 2018-2019 years.
All suspension and brakes were repaired in 2019.
At the moment, the assembly of the native Opel motor is underway.
