Lovely! Well done. There were lots of those in South Africa back in the day especially in Durban, the once iconic holiday city.
Best of luck with it ![]()

Very nice!
Very helpful guys here 🙂
Ein wunderschönes Beispiel! Grüße aus England
Großartige Arbeit, Sir!
Sehr beeindruckend!
Really 😯 ?? I was led to believe all P2s had oil filters? I heard some P1's YM 1960 with 1700cc engines had them too? I stand corrected.
That's the bonus with P2 engines. They've got oil filters. 🛢 This old boy hasn't 😟
Sludge ... degradation of old oil and metal wear over years in a hot African climate. When I got the car I flushed the motor and changed the oil twice before I was satisfied it was clean. The sludge was horrendous with tiny bits of metal in the mess 😔 I'm surprised it hadn't seized .. it was like treacle.
Hi Johannes
From what you've explained I think it might be a little corrosion. It only happens (on the odd occasion) when car is not moving. Clutch feels good. Very smooth gear changes .. I think I'm very lucky.
Regarding the diff, I don't think it's been serviced in years. I'd imagine it's full of sludge and needs a good flush. I need to replace the rear shocks at some point too.
Thanks
I've yet to experience problems with the clutch or gearbox on my car.. "touch wood" .. so just asking what are the common problems that others have experienced and how difficult are they to fix? The manual I have isn't very clear. I dread having to replace the clutch plate and other bits, so must be prepared. On the odd occasion when I haven't run the car for a few weeks I cannot get out of reverse gear and/or engage in any gear until I switch the engine off and on again? After that it's fine. I'd like to recondition the differential at some point and get the prop shaft balanced. I can hear rattling at the back but it drives fine.
Some great photos you've put up. I love Spain and have visited Andalucia on several occasions. My favourite place is Nerja. Your P2 coupe is growing on me. It is truly beautiful!
Lucky You !
no worries..
Damn I could have gone to this had I known. All I want is a set of front brake pistons for my P1
Midgee it is an Opel! If your car can get to Dover it can go to everywhere in Europe

Pistons for the front wheel brake cylinders. I would like 4 but 2 will do for now.
Wow some beautiful photos of your cars and country. 🫶❤️ I'd so love to take my 'Oskar' over there to visit his roots. Alas he is a bit long in the tooth for a long journey. I'd be lucky to get to Dover. 😅
Alles anzeigenHi , ich lebe auf Fehmarn und habe noch einige Neu- und Gebrauchtteile die ich nicht mehr benötige.
Von wo aus Dänemark kommst du ? Ich bin oft dort.
Gruß
Joachim
Hi
Do you have any wheel cylinder pistons for the front wheels. I need all 4 Thanks
Yes that's right unfortunately. Corruption, fraud and crime in general is rife in this country now. If the natives display any resistance they are branded as "right wing" bigots and all the rest of it. London's population is almost 15 million. Only 20% is native English. Same with Birmingham and other large cities. If you read between the lines you will see it all.
