Greetings to all members, I'm Martin from Varna, Bulgaria, and I'm writing in English because that's the only foreign language I know.
I've recently acquired a 62 P2. The car has been sitting for a while, and was restored back in the day. The engine turns by hand but I haven't tried to start it yet. Clutch, emergency brake, and gears work, brakes are not working but not seized, either. No rust underneath, and mostly original. It has a nice stance.
The car has been vandalized while sitting in a parking lot. All windows broken, one turn signal light as well, missing emblem, and a couple of trim pieces (the ones on the side of the rear quarter panels). I have questions and I hope you could help me with your experience:
- Rear windows can be opened from factory, but one is completely gone - is it easy to source the frame of the window, which is also the mechanism itself, as far as I can see? How hard it is to mount it on the car?
- How hard it is to convert the car to 12V, is there a guide somewhere?
- The front suspension stabilizer bar is loose and hanging below the car, is that due to warn/rotten bushes?
- Are there upholstery seat skins readily available?
- Has someone retrofitted a folding soft top/roof, from a Corsa A or Twingo, for example? I doubt I can find an original unit here. I'd like to have this option and would like to install it, since I'm planning to repaint the roof anyway.
Thanks in advance for your time and effort. I'm glad to be here, and the P2 is a beautiful machine.

Hi Martin,
welcome here. As you can read nearly all other stuff this is a german language forum. Nevertheless we try to help other Opel owners as much as possible but not all can follow english texts. Maybe better you use google translator or something similar.
Back to you car!
Congratulation to own such a nice car with less of rust.
Finding spare parts is possible but needs some time for searching.
For rear window best is to get a complete one with hinges. It is only fixed wiyh some scews in B pillar below inner trim.
To convert to 12 V is easy: starter can be same, ventilator and wiping motor need some voltage reducer, blink relais and ignition transformer have to be exchangened and than all light bulbs too. For generator there are in later Opel some in same shape in 12 V or you put in new type but needs to produce a new mount.
Stabilizer is mountet at two points. You will find the threads easly, maybe weld in new one if neccessary.
Upholstery mosty needs new skins because originals are rare or warn out too. For roof skin you can get new one too. It is only fabric in a special shape.
For breaks there are some new fabricated cylinders in the market but often in a poor quality - be careful to buy!
Nice to meet you here. Keep in mind it will take time and pacient to bring this car back on the road again. Best luck from me!

Hello Martin,
thank you for your introduction and welcome to our forum. We have a thread about German spare part dealers, maybe that can help you.

Welcome here! What a pity that the car has been vandalized. Parts there are around, but you will need some time and money to get them. Wish you a lot of luck and success for your project.
Greetings from Italy

yes, unfortunately I'll have to deal with that. the car came from Italy which is why it's not rusted out, still has the original Rome plates

Moin Martin,

-

Hoffe du kannst da was erkennen!
Gruß Peter

Geht auch mit einer alten Gabel

You can also use an old fork for this

-
Danke nochmal! -

Hallo Martin,
Yes, there are only two screws.
First, the ignition knob needs to be removed. Then you can slide the ignition lock inwards and take it out from below.
A photo shows the installed lock with the cable connections.
Don't forget to disconnect the battery beforehand.
