Hello All,
I'm Bas from the Netherlands and I recently bought this p1 from 1960, 10 years older than I am. (I also have a 1973 Opel B-Kadett Coupe in bronze color.) The Rekord was an incompleted restauration project and now we solved most: it can break again and it runs. The biggest challenge however is the Olymat, and especially the lack of information that can be found about it. (that combined with my limited knowledge makes it difficult to drive the Rekord for now...) I'm new to this forum and will give it a good read, but already saw it is tricky without the help of the specialists... I live 25 km from Nijmegen. Is there an Olymat available close to Nijmegen / Schaijk so I can have a proper look of how it should all be setup? (Replacing it with a normal pedal might also be an option? That would be the simplest solution perhaps...)
I have a (photo) blog on my project, I share it as it might enable you to help me better: https://www.basgriffioen.nl/oldtimer/opel-…1-olympia-1960/
Hope I'll find the help here. Please let me know.
Thanks in advance
Bas Griffioen

Hello Bas,
good choice to meet this forum. Warm welcome from here.
Normally this is a forum in german language but for technical questions often there are very good answers but keep in mind that not everyone with specialized knowledge can answer you in english. Sometimes it helps a lot (to get more and better answers) if you use google translate before you put in here questions.
I read a lot about Olymat and I know here are some people who are very familiar with this part of Opel. To get spare parts, if necessary, it will be a challange.
If you really do the exchange of the gear box please do not litter the Olymat - keep the possible useful spare parts to use for others.

Welcome und hello! I hope your questions will be answered. But I think so.
