Yes, sure! for old cars the oil must be more dense........
My curiosity was triggered by the fact that the car has no oil filter
So, I think that is importanto don't use an detergent oil for old engine, as they are synthetic oils.

I alway use SAE30 (monograde and - important! - non detergent, because you have no oilfilter) like this:
